Cleaning up our rivers this Earth Day

Cindy Boury's Private Wealth Management team geared up this past Earth Day, with gloves, garbage sticks, and Tim's coffee in hand to assist in the Annual Vedder River Cleanup at their local Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve.

Volunteering for the Chilliwack Vedder River Cleanup Society is important to Cindy Boury and the team, who are an enthusiastic and outdoor-oriented group that has been involved in their community's nature society for several years.

The Chilliwack Vedder River Cleanup Society is a not-for-profit society that was formed by a group of dedicated people who regularly use the Chilliwack/Vedder River for recreational purposes. Since 2002, over 105.98 tonnes of garbage has been removed from the Chilliwack Vedder River riparian areas.

"Our commitment is to our own back yard," says Cindy Boury, Branch Manager, Abbotsford. "By the team volunteering together, we have a group of garbage-picking-professionals who are dedicated to preserving our beautiful landscape."

As an active fisher in the Fraser River, Cindy wanted to be a champion for the environment. The team collected an odd variety of garbage items, including: fishing line, baby diapers, car parts, Styrofoam, and aluminum cans, to name a few.

Cindy and the team are very proud of their hard work, and hope that even more members of the community will contribute their time to help keep this magnificent river clean so its beauty can be appreciated by future generations.

"We had so much fun, and the day felt so rewarding," says Cindy. "We are going to increase this to twice a year and are actively looking for other team events to participate in."

Congratulations to the Cindy Boury Private Wealth Management team on contributing to such a great cause and making a difference in their community.
